Herblore is a members-only skills and can only be done on a member's server. To start training Herblore you will need to complete the Druidic Ritual Quest. Herblore is the skill of cleaning herbs and making potions using herbs and second ingredient materials. You can get an herb three different ways:
- Killing monsters and collecting herbs from the random drops. (You can check the Monster database to see if a specific monster drops Herbs.) Some monsters include: Men, Women, Thugs, Skeletons, Chaos druids, and slayer monsters.
- Growing herbs with the farming skill. (See the Farming Skill Guide for more detailed information).
- Trading Herbs with other players. (Note: prices may vary greatly.)
To clean a herb, you can click on an herb when it is in your inventory. If your herblore level is high enough, you will be able to clean it. If it is not high enough, you will not be able to clean it. After they are cleaned, the herbs will look different. The following is a list of all herbs available. They are the primary ingredient for making potions. Some of these herbs will not be available until you finish the Jungle Potion Quest or A Fairy Tale Part II Quest.

To make a potion you will need to get the following items: (Attack potion ingredients shown)
-
A Vial of water or Coconut milk, for some potions. To fill an empty vial with water, use it on a sink or water pump (you can not use a well to fill vials). To fill an empty vial with coconut milk, use a hammer on a coconut to break it open, then use the half coconut on the empty vial, to fill it with Coconut milk.

-
A cleaned herb.
-
The appropriate secondary ingredient.
Then in a couple of easy steps you will have created a potion.
-
Use the herb with the water-filled vial.
-
Use the secondary ingredient with the unfinished potion.
Of course, you must have the correct herblore level to make each potion. Use the chart below to determine if your herblore level is high enough to make a specific potion.

While Dungeoneering, you will sometimes find grimy herbs after killing creatures. You also may run across herb seeds that you will need to plant using the farming skill. Refer to our Farming guide for more information on the required levels to grow your own herbs. Sometimes there are bonus rooms in the dungeons that have requirements above your normal skill level. You will need to make potions to boost up your levels to get pass these doors. You can also make combat potions to make the boss battles easier.

In order to be able to make Barbarian mixes, you will need to talk to Otto Godblessed, located at Otto's Grotto (West of Baxtorian Falls). He will teach you basic Barbarian Skills needed to get the second ingredient for these mixes. You will also then be able to turn 4 dose potions into two 2-dose potion, by using any 4-dose potion on an empty vial.
To make the enhanced potions, you will need:
- 2-dose potion (or a 4-dose and an empty vial)
- Roe (for Attack mix , Anti-poison mix, Relicym's Balm mix, and Strength mix) or Caviar (for all other mixes)

Tar is used as fuel for the salamanders that you catch with your Hunting skills. (See the Hunting Skillguide for more information about salamanders.) To make the tar, you will need the herb for the type of tar that you want to make, 15 Swamp tar, and a Pestle and mortar. Use the herb with the Pestle and mortar to grind it up and mix it with the swamp tar. Making the tar will give you varying experience depending on what type you make, using the tar with the appropriate Salamander will give you Ranged experience.
If you are a member of Runescape, you have the ability to poison arrows, daggers, darts, bolts, and spears. When you use the poisoned weapons in combat, it will poison the victim. To poison a weapon, you must have the level-60-herblore potion 'Weapon Poison'. If you have completed the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio Quest, you may also create poisonous Karambwan paste for use on spears. It inflicts more damage per hit than regular Weapon poison. Consult the quest guide for details. Not only can you be poisoned by daggers, spears or arrows, but poisonous monsters, such as the 'Poison Spider', can also poison you. If you get poisoned, the only way to cure yourself is by drinking an "Anti Poison"' or a "Super Anti Poison" potion. Poison will wear off after a certain amount of time. If you die, you are free from poison when you are "reborn".
Greenman's Ale, available singly from Yanille's pub (or from the Lighthouse Keeper's store after Horror from the Deep quest) for 10gp each, temporarily boosts herblore by 1 level for about 45 seconds.
Some potions can only be made during and after certain quests. (potions that cannot be made outside of quests, such as Eadgar's Ruse Troll potion and Legends Bravery potion, are not included here for brevity.) Consult the quest guides (links in table below) to find complete details for making these potions.

Goutweed Collection Mini Guide:
Following the new Eadgar's Ruse Quest players can now collect the herb Goutweed from the troll storeroom and exchange it with the druid in Taverly for other herbs. The following guide will help to get them faster.
Recommended Items :
Monk robes top and bottom
prayer amulet (either but Saradomin is best due to defense bonus)
Teleport runes for Falador and Trollheim
Kit list 1
- 6 energy potions
- 18 lobster
Kit List 2
- 6 energy potions
- 6 prayer potions
- 12 lobster
Kit List 3
- 6 prayer potions
- 18 lobster
You can also take around 5-6 Logs with you instead of Lobsters to exchange with Eadgar for goat stew (heals 20).
Strategy:
When getting across the storeroom you will have to negotiate a number of Troll guards. If you get into their line of sight (around 8 squares ahead of them), they will throw a club at you, hitting random damage and tossing you out of the room. Stop in alcoves to recharge energy and take stock of the situation. Start running for the alcove when the troll heads down the first row of crates. This gives a free run 90% of the time. The final stage is just a matter of waiting for an opening and running to the Goutweed crates. Once you get a herb you will be thrown out of the room. Once you have full inventory of herbs, teleport to Falador then head to the druid Sanfew to get your herbs. He will give you herbs at 1:1 and there are always a few higher-level herbs (over Irit).
NOTE: Teleport to Trollheim to get back. if you cannot teleport, you will need to bring climbing boots to get over agility obstacles.
