You learn during What's Mine is Yours that Doric has sent his son off to train in Keldagrim. This causes Boric to think that he has displeased his father and, when he returns home, he attempts to overthrow his father's business. With your assistance, the 2 will reconcile their misunderstandings and become business partners at Doric & Boric's Workshop. Doric will run the Smithing end of it while Boric can be found downstairs running the Mining end of the operation.
After completion of the quest, you can do the Doric and Boric Tasks to gain Smithing and Mining experience as well as charges for your Gofannon amulet. Completion of these tasks are a requirement for the Master Quest Cape and the Completionist cape.
