There are 8 Shadow anchors at the Kharid-et Dig Site, and each one requires 10 pylon batteries to be fully charged. Charging all 8 unlocks the "Light and Shadow" Archaeology Achievement.
Pylon batteries are also used to charge the Pylons in the Main fortress area of the Kharid-et Dig Site. Doing so increases the charge of the pylon by 0.001% and grants the player Archaeology experience based on the player's level for each battery added. Adding 10 or more batteries at once will increase the experience gained by 10%, and adding 100 batteries at once will increase the experience by 20%. However, once a player has contributed 100 batteries to the charge of the pylon they will not be able to contribute to it again until it has reached 100% charge and then run out.
